It’s October 2015 and due to the tight production schedule, we held a combo production meeting and script (table) read.
The synergy between the cast members grew with each round of the script read. We had pizza, (all except for cast member Advait Ghuge), who put us all to shame with his fitness discipline and in favor of his own awesome, delectable meal.(Thanks for the recipe Advait!)Advait also “went there” with his reading including wearing his debonair wardrobe for his character “Mark Wells” and delivered lines like a champ. He was liquid, open, and absorbed that character. Then our “Sarah Jane”–the lead, Michelle Mays zoned in on her method acting and effortlessly went from conniving and cutthroat, to vulnerable and desperate. One scene was so deep that our hostess and co-producer Betty Trask said, “I forgot this was a script read. I want to see this on the big screen”.
DING! That’s the goal.
Tisha Renae, cast member for “Elizabeth” threw down with her reading of a tormented younger sister. (And wait until you guys see miss thang storey through people on confrontation scene. 😉
The back and forth between her and Michelle was incredible. If only we had popcorn because it was a live theater experience.
Later I went over some shots, lighting and set ups while the cast conversed about their goals and other projects.
Camaraderie strengthened, as they ventured through hot topic conversations in the news, current events, and favorite movies, adding additional chemistry to the production.
One more tech scout to go, and a final breakdown of the script.
